Bryan Singer has revealed Mark Millar, 20th Century Fox's consultant on Marvel movies, hasn't had any input in his upcoming 'X-Men' movie

Bryan Singer has insisted Mark Millar is "not involved" in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

The director - who is set to direct the upcoming superhero film which will unite cast members from the original film trilogy and 2011's 'X-Men: First Class' - hasn't had any conversations with the screenwriter, who was hired by movie studio Fox to oversee its Marvel Comics-based projects.

Singer told "I've not spoken to Mark Millar at all. He's not involved. I don't know what his role is about. All I know is that I have my own specific beliefs about how to take this universe forward.

"I started with the first 'X-Men', then 'First Class' and now I am combining them and I think it could go further than that and I have some ideas about that, so perhaps he should chat to me at some point."

Comic book writer Millar - who has written many of the 'X-Men' comics, as well as graphic novel 'Kick-Ass' - previously praised the film's script and hailed Singer for his direction of the 'X-Men' cinematic franchise.

He said: "Of course, he is Mr. 'X-Men' and he knows exactly how everything works. Just look at these first two 'X-Men' movies - despite the huge cast of characters it all came together really well. These two movies never felt like overload and the balance was really, really good.

"On the other hand I though the third film felt crowded, but then Singer is excellent at working with ensemble casts. So with this one I feel it is all fine. I have read the screenplay and it doesn't feel rushed and it doesn't feel like it is too many characters."

'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will star Sir Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, Sir Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film is tentatively due for release in July 2014.

When the mutants of the future face extinction, they send Wolverine (Jackman) back in time to change destiny. The finale is too effects-heavy and non-fans may question whether it all makes sense, but the principal players are all on top form and the slick direction and smart writing are at times enormously entertaining.
