Michelle Keegan admitted she will miss not having a baby bump when her character Tina McIntyre gives birth on 'Coronation Street' to Gary and Izzy's baby
Michelle Keegan will miss her baby bump when her 'Coronation Street' character Tina McIntyre gives birth.
Tina is currently acting as a surrogate mother for Weatherfield couple Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) and the 25-year-old actress admits she has got quite attached to her fake bump because it keeps her warm on set.
During an appearance on ITV show 'This Morning' today (12.03.13), she said: "I love the bump, especially in this weather ... I'm gonna be sad when it goes."
Michelle researched the responsibilities and problems a real surrogate has before the storyline started and she believes her background work has greatly helped her portrayal.
She explained: "All the research did help, I've totally detached myself from the baby and from getting emotionally involved so that has helped ... I'm [playing] five-and-a-half months pregnant so I'm quite big at the moment!"
When she isn't pretending to be pregnant Michelle is regularly named sexiest soap star at awards, but she has only recently started to feel confident with her own body and looks.
She added: "I do think it's an age thing - this time three years ago I was not comfortable at all, I was constantly covering up ... I don't know, I think it's a girl thing.
"I think I'm now more grown up and I just think, 'Live your life now.' As long as you're happy that's all that matters."
