Dundee in Monopoly vote win
- 25 September 2007
Dundee has been given a vote of confidence after it topped a UK-wide poll to be included in the latest edition of Monopoly.
The makers of the game decided to put the decision to a public vote, which saw the city beat the likes of Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Manchester.
Dundee is now the fourth most valuable property, trading places with the Strand in the red section of the game.
More than one million people voted to determine the locations for the ‘Here and Now UK’ board.
Dundee councillor Joe Morrow said: “It is extremely pleasing that Dundee has been included in the ‘Here and Now UK Edition’ of Monopoly, especially because it has been decided by a public vote.
“It is obvious that Dundonians who live here and are now scattered across the world are extremely proud of their city and have rallied to the cause along with thousands of others who recognise that the city of discovery deserves its place among the country’s top players.”
