Ski advert uses decade-old footage of snow covered mountains
Scotland’s skiing community has voiced surprise at efforts to lure winter sports enthusiasts to the country’s slopes with footage of snow-covered mountainsides – taken a decade ago.
VisitScotland has been criticised for using footage from the 1990s, which was filmed at Beinn Bhan in Wester Ross, to promote the north of Scotland.
Suffering warmer temperatures, Scotland has not experienced the kind of heavy snowfall shown in the short film for years.
Virginia Millen from the Nevis Range ski centre commented: “The weather is changing here and we have been forced to diversify with biking all year round. It’s wrong for the tourist board to use such old images like that and quite misleading.
“They should focus on what we can offer today, not ten years ago.”
