Beth Tweedle wins 'DOI'
Beth Tweedle has been crowed the winner of 'Dancing on Ice'
Beth Tweddle has been crowned the winner of 'Dancing On Ice' 2013.
The 27-year-old Olympic gymnast and her professional partner Dan Whiston fought off stiff competition from 'EastEnders' star Matt Lapinskas and his partner and rumoured love interest Brianne Delcourt in the grand final of the ITV series tonight (10.03.13), during which they both performed self-choreographed Bolero routines on the ice.
After hearing the results, Beth told hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley: "I'm speechless, it feels amazing. All credit goes to Dan and all the pro skaters here, they're incredible."
Matt initially came top of the leader board after being critiqued and given two perfect scores by judges Ashley Roberts, Robin Cousins, Karen Barber and Jason Gardiner for his performances.
However, Beth won more votes from the viewing public making her the winner.
Despite being disappointed, Matt immediately congratulated his rival, saying: "It's been an amazing 10 weeks. Congratulations to Beth, really well done, a great contender. Dan, congratulations mate. I've actually fallen in love with skating now and I'm not going to give it up, I'm going to keep going. I can't thank Chris and Jane enough or thank Brianne enough, she's one in a million, I'll never find another one like her."
Tonight's final began with the celebrity contestants performing two routines, which showcased their favourite routine from the past ten weeks and also featured a performance with a group of pro skaters.
Olympic boxer Luke Campbell was the first semi-finalist to be evicted and finished third.
He said: "It's been a fantastic experience, I've loved every minute of it, I've learnt a new skill for life now and I've got some great friends out of it as well."
Before going into tonight's final, Beth was the favourite to win this year's reality TV series.
