Scott Weiland dumped by Stone Temple Pilots
Scott Weiland has been dumped as the singer of Stone Temple Pilots by the rest of the band.
Scott Weiland has been dumped as the singer of Stone Temple Pilots.
The 'Sour Girl' band released a simple one word statement saying they have severed ties with the volatile frontman.
It read: "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland."
Scott said he was as surprised as anybody by the news and had not been made aware of the decision by the band, which includes Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz.
He wrote: "I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press.
"Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted, and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out."
The split is thought to have been caused by in-fighting between Scott and the other band members. The singer has previously fought drug addiction, the breakdown of two marriages and run-ins with the law.
He was also a member of Velvet Revolver but that ended badly and guitarist Slash recently ruled out ever performing with Scott again.
He said: "It's just awkward. Even if I didn't have my own solo project going on, I still wouldn't work with him."
