Trent Reznor has announced the return of his industrial project Nine Inch Nails, saying they will tour around the world in 2013 and 2014

Trent Reznor has announced the return of Nine Inch Nails.

The musician and producer retired his best known project after the 'Wave Goodbye' tour in 2009, but has today (25.02.13) announced a new line up and plans to tour.

He wrote: "Nine Inch Nails are touring this year. I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show.

"The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.

"Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon."

Adrian has previously worked with the band on three albums, 'The Downward Spiral', 'The Fragile' and 'Ghosts I-IV' , while Eric Avery is a former member of Jane's Addiction. Keyboardist Alessandro has previously played with Nine Inch Nails from 2004 to 2008. Josh usually records under the name Telefon Tel Aviv, while Ilan has drummed with Lostprophets and Angels & Airwaves.

Since putting Nine Inch Nails on Hold, Trent has worked on soundtracks - including the Oscar winning score for 'The Social Network' - and formed the band How to Destroy Angels. That group will release their debut, 'Welcome Oblivion', on March 5.
