Simon Cowell brings in new X Factor twist
'X Factor' fans will secretly be able to nominate friends to take part in this year's show as boss Simon Cowell brings in a new twist to keep the programme feeling fresh
'X Factor' fans will secretly be able to nominate friends to take part in this year's show.
In a bid to give the long-running talent show a fresh feel, boss Simon Cowell wants people to send in an application form on their pal's behalf behind their back.
If successful, the unsuspecting wannabes will get a massive shock when they get a call from the producers, who will whisk them off to sing in front of the judges.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's a new twist to freshen up the show.
"We are asking friends to nominate their pals who they believe are good enough to take part in the show but for some reason have never applied.
"It's a fun new way to spring surprises and find singers."
A show spokesman confirmed the news, saying: "It's a new way of finding undiscovered talent."
However, some fans have blasted the rehashed idea, claiming some people may try to stitch up mates who can't sing a note by sending them off to 'X Factor' for a joke.
They also said there was probably be a good reason amateurs didn't apply for 'X Factor' themselves.
The format was tried out on 'X Factor USA' last year.
