Natalie Gumede has confirmed she will film her final 'Coronation Street' scenes last week as her character Kirsty Soames sees her time on the soap come to an end
Natalie Gumede has confirmed her 'Coronation Street' exit.
The actress, who appears as abusive Kirsty Soames on the soap, will film her final scenes next week as her "countdown" kicks off.
She wrote on Twitter: "I can now confirm what you all suspected: Corrie is on a Kirsty countdown!!
"The last 18 months have been incredible, thank you all so much! Your support has touched me greatly, and working with the Corrie team has been an honour and a pleasure!"
The 28-year-old star has been embroiled in a long-running storyline which saw her attack on-screen partner Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), which took a turn when she accused him of domestic abuse.
Natalie was full of praise for her co-star and fellow cast members as she looks ahead to her final sessions filming for the show.
She added: "Thank you Alan Halsall for your generosity as a person and as an actor! And all of my castmates, crewmates and all who look after us so well. After my final Corrie filming day next week, I will look back with love, and look forward to new adventures xxx (sic)."
The actress - who was nominated as Most Popular Newcomer at this year's National Television Awards - spoke last month about her character's future on 'Coronation Street'.
She speculated: "Everyone is going to want to see her face her comeuppance and have some justice for Tyrone.
"Especially when you consider how far Kirsty has gone in terms of the physical abuse and manipulation of Tyrone and the people around him.
"So I'm very aware that Kirsty could well have a shelf life."
