Ben Howard says the "diversity in British music is something to be proud of".
The singer-songwriter scooped two BRIT awards last night (20.02.13) - British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act - and is proud of the rich musical landscape and heritage his country has.
He told BANG Showbiz: "The diversity in British music at the moment is something to be proud of, there's so much music out there.
"There's always space for acoustic guitars, I don't know if it will always be in fashion, I'm playing a lot more electric guitar nowadays anyway.
"As long as people keep pushing themselves, something good music comes out of it. If you sit still with an acoustic guitar and do nothing with it, then it will run out, but if you enjoy the music you play there's space for anything, from dubstep to folk. As long as there's a bit of passion you'll be alright."
Ben was surprised to collect the awards, and is still getting used to the limelight, but said he enjoyed the ceremony, held at London's The O2 venue, and is looking forward to writing his second album.
He added: "This has been Bizarre to play at the BRITs. I've never seen so many cameras in my life.
"We didn't do it for award shows and stuff, but it is really nice to get up there and meet your peers.
"These [awards] are the cherry on the cake. I'm going to disappear for a bit and get down to recording a second album that I'm proud of, put lots of work and lots of passion into it."
