At least two 'Coronation Street' characters are set to die in the Rovers Return fire in major shake-up of the soap

At least two 'Coronation Street' characters will die in the Rovers Return fire.

Sunita Alahan - played by Shobna Gulati - has been confirmed to lose her life in the blaze that rips through the pub but it has now been revealed another Weatherfield resident will perish and possibly more, leaving viewers trying to guess whose time is up.

A teaser was posted on the ITV soap's website yesterday (14.02.13) which said: "You may have read reports that the Rovers fire will claim lives. We can now exclusively reveal more than one person could die in the blaze at the Rovers.

"Will landlady Stella fall victim to the fire? Could it be barmaid Tina? Fireman Paul? Bad guy Karl? Sunita? Gloria? Eva? Toy boy Jason? No one is safe from the killer flames."

The red hot scenes have been being filmed in Manchester this week, ending with the inferno yesterday evening (14.02.13) with a team of real-life fire-fighters on set to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.

Despite ITV's tease, during the shoot Rovers landlady Stella Price (Michelle Collins) was seen being pulled out alive from an upstairs window by Eileen Grimshaw's fireman boyfriend Paul Kershaw (Tony Hirst).

Although Sunita dies in the flames she is suspected of starting the fire because her boyfriend Karl Munro (John Michie) dumped her telling her he wanted to get back with his ex Stella.

After shooting wrapped Michelle Collins went onto her Twitter account to talk about the scenes.

She tweeted: "Just got home after major night shoot could never be a night worker! Actors, crew and fireman were all amazing had some amazing stunts.

"Night, sleep well all my co workers, great night on the cobbles! so exciting and dramatic Corrie fans will love it x (sic)"

Referring to her final ever scenes on the 'Corrie' cobbles, Shobna - who first played Sunita in March 2001 - tweeted: "Nite y'all give some big love to those still out there #roversfire big up #corrie cast and crew x (sic)"
