Corrie's Gloria shocked by late lover's secret wife
Gloria Price will be left gobsmacked when her lover dies and she comes face-to-face with his secret wife in a new 'Coronation Street' storyline.
Coronation Street's Gloria Price will be left stunned when she discovers her late wealthy lover had a secret wife.
The returning character - played by Sue Johnston - thinks she is in for a bumper pay day when rug seller Eric Babbage (Tim West) dies.
However, she is shocked when she discovers her partner had been married for years and his estranged spouse Dorris appears to claim her inheritance as his next of kin.
In scenes to be screened in March, Gloria is seen saying: "Eric was honest with me. He never even mentioned you. I can't believe this. Why didn't you get a divorce?"
To which Dorris replies: "He was too tight for that. He thought I would cop for the lot if we got a divorce. Which is just as well now he's gone to that great vinyl flooring warehouse in the sky because I'll cop the lot anyway."
Gloria's disappointment is further compounded when she realises she has organised a £4,000 funeral for Eric which she'll have to pay for.
She fumes: "I've never been so disappointed in a human being in all my life. We were going to get married. He can do a running jump if he thinks I'm going to give him a lavish send-off."
Gloria - who is the mother of Rovers Return landlady Stella Price - is returning to Weatherfield after she left the cobbled streets after being humiliated by Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers) for ruining his relationship with Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).
