Dynamo wins TV Show of the Year at Virgin Media Awards
'Dynamo: Magician Impossible' has been named TV Show of the Year at the 2013 Virgin Media Awards, beating the likes of iconic series 'Sherlock' and 'Doctor Who' to the top spot
'Dynamo: Magician Impossible' has been named TV Show of the Year at the 2013 Virgin Media Awards.
The mystifying magician's programme cast a spell over viewers to scoop the big title and beat iconic series 'Sherlock' and 'Doctor Who' to the prize, with the two shows only taking a quarter of the votes between them.
The British public nominated MTV reality show 'Geordie Shore' into second place with just 21 per cent of the vote and period drama 'Downton Abbey' landed in sixth place with a mere two per cent.
Although 'Sherlock' missed out on the leading prize in the TV category, it did take home TV Moment of the Year for the scene in the final episode of series two, where the detective - played by Benedict Cumberbatch - leaped from a hospital roof.
Benedict also took home Best TV Actor, beating Doctor Who's titular star Matt Smith by a small number of votes.
BBC One was awarded Channel of the Year for the second year running, owing part of its success to its spectacular 2012 London Olympics coverage and the popularity of 'Strictly Come Dancing' last year.
ITV2 was shortly behind with 13 per cent of the votes, while US channel FX (FOX) gained 12 per cent of votes in third.
The Wanted took home Band of the Year, beating their rivals One Direction to the top spot by just 0.08 per cent, and on/off couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were named Hottest Actor and Actress.
