Brian Wilson doubts he will ever play with The Beach Boys again.

The singer and songwriter reunited with the group for a number of 50th anniversary shows last year, but he and members Al Jardine and David Marks were told before the end of the tour they were being let go by Mike Love, who owns the rights to The Beach Boys name.

When asked if he would reunite with the other members at the Grammy Awards, he told reporters: "No, I don't think so. Doubt it."

Brian - the group's main songwriter in the 60s, who collected the Best Historical Album award on Sunday (01.02.13) for the deluxe boxed set 'The Smile Sessions' - also said his favourite Beach Boys song is 'California Girls', although he added 'God Only Knows' is a close second.

After contractually cutting Brian, Al and David out of the reunion last October, Mike write an open letter explaining his actions.

He said: "I did not fire Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys. I cannot fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I am not his employer. I do not have such authority. And even if I did, I would never fire Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys. I love Brian Wilson."

Mike further explained the reasons behind the move were financial, as he didn't want the original line up to become overexposed.

Responding to Mike's comments, Brian said: "I'm disappointed and can't understand why he doesn't want to tour with Al, David and me. We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys.

"By Mike not wanting or letting Al, David and me tour with the band, it sort of feels like we're being fired.

"Al and I want to keep going because we believe we owe it to the music."

The Beach Boys

The surviving Beach Boys (with one obvious exception) continue to tour their surf flavoured summer vibes.
