Emmerdale's Chris Bisson's baby tears
'Emmerdale' actor Chris Bisson was overcome with emotion filming scenes in which his character Jai Sharma's baby is intensive care, admitting he couldn't help but burst into tears
'Emmerdale' star Chris Bisson "burst into tears" filming a scene with his onscreen baby in intensive care.
The actor admitted to being overcome with emotion shooting the harrowing scenes in which his alter-ego Jai Sharma's baby with Rachel Breckle - who is played by Gemma Oaten in the ITV soap - is left fighting for its life after being born prematurely.
Chris, a new father himself, explained to HELLO! magazine: "There was one scene in which Jai was allowed into the intensive care unit to see his baby for the first time. We were using this little prosthetic doll, which was all wired up on the cot, so that its chest was moving up and down to make it look like it was breathing.
"Jai was supposed to pull himself together, walk outside and burst into tears. But I burst into tears before the end of the scene. I said to the director, 'I think you'll have to use that take because I don't think I can do that again.'
"It was 12 hours a day filming an emotionally challenging storyline."
The actor recently welcomed a son, Harry, with his girlfriend of six years, Rowena Finn.
He added: "I'm just glad that my real life story hasn't been anywhere near as trying as the one I've been portraying on screen."
