David Bowie feels "validated" by the public's response to his surprise release 'Where Are We Now'
David Bowie feels "validated" by the response to 'Where Are We Now'.
The legendary singer made a surprise comeback with the new track on his 66th birthday, January 8, and has been pleased by the feedback it has gained from fans.
Collaborator and producer Tony Visconti said: "I've been speaking to David Daily and he's very excited by the response. We both feel validated that people love the song."
'Where Are We Now' is the first track taken from David's twenty-fourth studio album, 'The Next Day' - his first new music in a decade - and Tony thinks it took so long for David to make the album as he was re-assessing where he fits in the music industry.
Tony added to Q magazine: "I saw him socially [during his absence from music] and he was thinking about it the whole time. It was good that he took some time off to reflect on the music scene and the business in general. He was probably wondering if it was worth making another record again in this age, or was it just going to be another download? But even I was shocked when he eventually rang me out of the blue and said 'do you fancy making some demos?'"
