Corrie's Helen Worth: Lewis should be with Audrey
'Coronation Street' star Helen Worth thinks her onscreen boyfriend Lewis Archer should get back together with Audrey Roberts
Helen Worth thinks Coronation Street's Lewis Archer should get back with her onscreen mother Audrey Roberts.
The 62-year-old actress - who portrays Lewis' girlfriend Gail Platt - has her world torn apart later this week when the devious con man, played by Nigel Havers, reveals he was only with her as revenge for ruining his relationship with her mother (Sue Nicholls).
Although Lewis is to depart Weatherfield on Friday evening (01.02.13), when Gail discovers he still has feelings for Audrey and was only using her to steal her savings, Helen thinks there will be a happy ending in the long run for her onscreen mother.
Speaking about the tainted relationship between Gail and Lewis on ITV's 'Lorraine', Helen said: "It was great to do. Great fun to work with Nigel. I feel for Gail - she just wants to be loved, [by] anybody!
"I'm sure he'll come back and go back to Audrey. Gail's just vulnerable."
Helen - who has played Gail since 1974 - admits she will never get bored of her role as she always looks forward to her alter-ego's new and "exciting" storylines.
She continued: "I think that's the whole point, isn't it? With every new storyline is another job, really. It changes the character and it moves it on, and it's fun and exciting. You get to work with lovely people."
