Corrie's Tyrone and Fiz to flee with his and Kirsty's baby
Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape will flee Coronation Street with his and Kirsty Soames' baby Ruby because he is "scared" for his daughter's safety if she is left with her mother
Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape are to flee Weatherfield with his and Kirsty Soames' baby.
The desperate mechanic - who is portrayed by Alan Halsall - takes drastic action after being accused of beating his evil former fiance Kirsty (Natalie Gumede), even though she is the one who has been physically abusing him for months, because he is "scared" for his daughter's safety if she is left with her mother.
Alan said: "Fiz [Jennie McAlpine] is appalled by the idea, but Tyrone is desperate. Obviously, kidnapping your own child is the one thing that would ensure you never saw her again. But Tyrone isn't thinking. He just wants to hold Ruby in his arms, and this is the only solution he can see.
"The only solution Tyrone can see right now is to take Ruby and go. He's not selfish - he's scared for Ruby's safety if she stays with her mother.
"The one thing that terrifies him is that Kirsty will manipulate the situation so he never sees Ruby again. He already lost one child when he discovered baby Jack was Kevin's son, so he just can't go through all that again."
Before Tyrone flees Weatherfield, Kirsty surprisingly asks him to get back together with her and while he hates the idea, he sees it as a perfect way to see his beloved daughter again.
Alan - who won the Serial Drama Performance prize at the National Television Awards last week for his portrayal of the hapless mechanic - added to Inside Soap magazine: "She asks him to get back together with her!
"He definitely doesn't want to go back to Kirsty, but Ruby is Tyrone's priority. After everything that's gone on and what it took for him to leave, the possibility of having his family handed back to him is a real bolt out of the blue."
