Rapper 50 Cent has postponed his European tour, as he flounders in the chart battle with rival Kanye West.

A spokeswoman refused to comment on whether this was due to 50 Cent’s declaration that, if outsold by West, he would retire from his solo career.

She added that “unforeseen circumstances” had led to the temporary postponement of his tour.

Performances at the Mobo Awards and Vodafone Live Music Awards in London have been axed, as well as an appearance on MTV in Germany on Friday.

The rappers both released new albums on September 11, which prompted Fiddy to issue the challenge.

West is expected to take the number one position later in the week with Graduation.
