Bon Jovi have been announced as the first headliners for Barclaycard British Summer Time.
The 'Always' hitmakers will top the bill at the new 10-day event in London's Hyde Park on July 5, and have pledged not to let the sound problems that plagued last year's concerts at the venue get in the way of a great show.
Speaking at a press conference to launch the event - which will run from 28 June - 7 July - frontman Jon Bon Jovi said: "We're just going to turn it up to 11 and let them deal with it. Hopefully all the authorities know all the words and will sing along. We'll push it as hard as we can."
News of the new event - which will see six concerts staged between 28 and 30 June and July 5 to 7 - comes after it was announced yesterday (22.01.13) Hard Rock Calling and Wireless Festivals are moving from Hyde Park in Central London to the Olympic Stadium in East London.
Bon Jovi confirmed they were approached to play the new venue, but declined out of "loyalty and nostalgia" to the open-air space.
Jon added: "Hyde Park was a dream venue for me 10 years ago, I remember the Rolling Stones coming out there after Brian Jones' passing, and we were delighted to get that original license to play Hyde Park, so there was a nostalgia and a loyalty to the venue, and of course our partnership with [promoters] AEG is deep and long and great, but yeah, we were offered the Olympic Park, but I wanted Hyde Park."
AEG Live have hailed Barclaycard British Summer Time as a "new era for entertainment" and pledged the event will be accessible for all, including a dedicated family day midweek and other intimate events including film, music, literature and sport.
The site has been split into four zones and boasts facilities such as a swimming pool, restaurants, cocktails bars, farmers markets and flushable toilets.
Tickets for Bon Jovi's headlining gig go on sale on February 1 from www.bstlondon.com.
