Ellie Simmonds delighted about Bake Off role
Ellie Simmonds was delighted when she was asked to appear on 'The Great Comic Relief Bake Off', a charity version of popular BBC Two show 'The Great British Bake Off'
Ellie Simmonds "jumped at the chance" to do 'The Great Comic Relief Bake Off'.
The Paralympic swimmer is an avid viewer of the original BBC Two show, 'The Great British Bake Off', as well as a baking enthusiast, so she relished the opportunity to appear on the charity version of the show featuring celebrity contestants.
She said: "I'm such a big fan of 'Bake Off'. I've watched every series. So when I was asked to do this, I jumped at the chance. 'Oh my gosh, yes! Any day! I'd love to!' I've got to do some amazing things since the [Paralympic] Games but this was one of the best."
Although the 18-year-old swimming sensation has to stay in shape in the lead-up to big competitions, she admits to having a sweet tooth and treating her teammates to tasty calorific treats.
She added to the Radio Times magazine: "Several months before the Games I stopped baking because it was getting quite fattening.
"I'm the team baker. There are nine people in our squad and I always bake for birthdays or when we have a team bonding session."
'The Great Comic Relief Bake Off' starts on BBC Two tonight (21.01.13) at 8.30pm.
