Coronation Street's Kirsty to accuse Tyrone of abuse
Coronation Street's violent former policewoman Kirsty Soames will accuse loveable Tyrone Dobbs of violently beating her in an act of revenge on their wedding day
Coronation Street's Kirsty Soames will accuse Tyrone Dobbs of domestic abuse on their wedding day.
Violent Kirsty - who is portrayed by Natalie Gumede - tells cops that loveable Tyrone (Alan Halsall) pushed her down the stairs after she takes a tumble in order to get back at him for his affair with Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine).
Poor Tyrone finds himself questioned by police and facing a prison sentence for domestic abuse, while twisted Kirsty - who has been aggressively bullying her fiancé for months - goes free.
Natalie told The Sun newspaper: "She's so in love with Tyrone and she hates him for what he's done and if she can't have him nobody can. It's that thing of still trying to get their attention. While she's doing this to him, she still has him, she still has a hold over him.
"I don't think there are any limits to how far Kirsty will go now. She's an intelligent girl and she knows how to manipulate. She's been given a set of circumstances and knows how to turn them to her favour."
The evil brunette will use her experience of the law to convince the police and frame mechanic Tyrone.
But Natalie - who is nominated for the Best Newcomer accolade at the National TV Awards - worries fans of the soap will turn against her when her character takes things too far.
She said: "I certainly expected a lot of negative feedback because she's not the world's most likeable character. But luckily people have seen past it and I'm really grateful for that. I haven't had too much negativity."
The wedding day showdown will air on the ITV soap next Monday (21.01.13).
