Danny Boyle is confident people will fall under the charm of 'Trance', his emotional upcoming film noir
Danny Boyle thinks 'Trance' will cast a dark "spell" on viewers.
The London 2012 Olympics mastermind and renowned director insists his new art heist thriller is more than just a film noir melodrama and has a gripping emotional story at its core.
He said: "It sort of borrows elements from noir. Or the idea of noir, but we have an emotional core. The spell it casts is not just stylistic but emotional as well. You get lured into the story not just by the narrative but by the relationship between the characters."
The film sees an art robbery go wrong and gang leader Franck (Vincent Cassel) turn to hypnotist Elizabeth (Rosario Dawson) to unearth the location of a stolen painting from Simon (James McAvoy), who uncovers far more than she bargained for in the process.
Rosario has been converted to Danny's unique filming process and can't wait to watch the complex plot layers and camera techniques come to life when the finished product is released in March 2013.
She explained to Empire magazine: "I've been sucked in by Danny's process. When I see the camera sort of tilted, and these weird creations that they've put over it, I'm like, 'What is he doing?' It's going to be magic to come back in a year-and-a-half or whatever and watch the movie and go, 'Is that what we made?' "
