Macy Gray is still proud of her debut album.
The 'Do Something' singer shot to worldwide fame with her first record, 'On How Life Is', in 1999 and while she doesn't listen to it often, she appreciates it more now than when it first came out.
She said: "I do have the record on shuffle in my car. Sometimes it comes on, and I think, 'Oh, now I see what all the fuss was about'.
"Back when we made it, I didn't really get why people were so into it - I was pleased by its success, but I didn't really understand the reasons. Now, I understand - it sounds like nothing else that was around at that time."
Macy, 45, added her favourite song on the album is not huge single 'I Try' or its follow up 'Still', but a lesser-known album track.
She added: "The only song from the record that I still listen to often is track number eight - 'I've Committed Murder'. I still love that song - it's pretty much the culmination of all my hopes for that album."
Macy has gone on to release five more studio albums, including a collection of covers, 'Covered', and a re-recording of Stevie Wonder's 1972 album 'Talking Book', which both came out last year.
