Ryan Gosling's costume drama on Gangster Squad set
Ryan Gosling suffered from a nasty rash thanks to the woollen costume he had to wear for crime drama 'Gangster Squad'
Ryan Gosling got an itchy rash from his 'Gangster Squad' costume.
The Hollywood hunk has revealed the three-piece wool suit he donned to portray a Los Angeles Police Detective on a mission to catch notorious East Coast Mafia gangsters made the crime flick's filming experience very uncomfortable.
He laughed: "The wool was quite itchy, so I had a rash. I channelled that irritation into my hatred for the gangsters."
His co-star Josh Brolin agreed wholeheartedly, describing the wardrobe as "itchy and tight."
Ryan, 32, plays real-life cop Sgt. Jerry Wooters who took on notorious mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) and his gang, and he was thrilled to be able to meet the policeman's family and learn all about his personal quirks.
He told People magazine: "His kids came to the set and told me a lot of stories and a lot of great details. Like, when he would ash his cigarette, he would ash into the cuff of his pants. Then at the end of the day, he would dump out his cuffs, dump out all the ashes."
The 'Drive' actor will be making his directorial debut this year, helming fantasy film 'How to Catch a Monster'.
'Gangster Squad', also starring Emma Stone, is due for release this January.
