Billie Piper says she will not be reprising her role as Rose Tyler to celebrate Doctor Who's 50th anniversary next year
Billie Piper has ruled out a return to 'Doctor Who'.
The 30-year-old actress says she will not be reprising her role as the titular Time Lord's companion Rose Tyler - who she played from 2005 to 2006 before making a number of cameos until her final appearance in 2010 - to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary next year.
When asked on 'The Graham Norton Show' - which airs tomorrow night (04.01.13) - if she will be returning to sci-fi series, she said: "No. I've not been asked.
"I think Matt Smith said something in passing or in jest like, 'That would be nice', and it became something, but no."
Matt - who stars as the Time Lord - previously said he would love his "good friend" Billie to reprise her 'Doctor Who' role to help celebrate the milestone.
Speaking last year, he explained: "If I wanted a companion from the past I would say Rose because I am good friends with Billie."
But Frank Skinner - who also appears on tomorrow's 'Graham Norton Show' - is keen to star in the sci-fi show, and admits he would be happy to portray a "monster or a lunar rock" if it meant he could appear in an episode to mark the programme's 50th anniversary.
He said: "I asked my manager to get me a part in 'Doctor Who'. I didn't need a big part - a monster or a lunar rock - but I would love to be able to tell my grandchildren I was in it.
"My manager said, 'I'm sure it won't be a problem'. He got in touch and got an email back that said, 'We are really happy that it is something Frank would like to do ...' Somehow the end of the email seemed to have been cut off ..."
