David Walliams and Matt Lucas go separate ways
David Walliams says he won't be filming any more series of 'Come Fly With Me' or 'Little Britain' with his comedy partner Matt Lucas
David Walliams is "disappointed" Matt Lucas doesn't want to do more series of 'Come Fly With Me'.
The 41-year-old star is unlikely to be teaming up with his former partner in crime to shoot another season of the hit BBC One show because Matt wants to concentrate on his Hollywood film career and his West End role in 'Les Miserables' instead.
David told Esquire magazine: "We've been taking a break, doing different things. Matt didn't want to do any more 'Come Fly With Me'. He wanted to do his own thing. I was disappointed. I was hoping to do more because when you've started something like that, one series never seems enough."
The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge - who is expecting his first child with supermodel wife Lara Stone - also admitted their cult sketch show 'Little Britain' has been put to rest forever as the pair find the idea of doing another series too boring and repetitive.
He added: "Every day, people go, 'Ooh are you doing any more 'Little Britain'? Every day. And you think you'd like to see it but actually it probably wouldn't be as good as it was and it would just mean we were doing it every year, year-in and year-out and you get bored."
The comedians became firm friends after meeting at the National Youth Theatre in 1990 and 'Bridesmaids' star Matt was best man at David's wedding, but the past two years have seen them develop separate projects.
David has made a name for himself alongside Simon Cowell on 'Britain's Got Talent' and is currently planning a classroom comedy TV show, while Matt will next appear in upcoming films 'Therese Raquin' and 'Small Apartments'.
