Tom Daley excited for TV career
Tom Daley is looking forward to presenting his own show 'Splash!' on ITV1 as it will give him a TV career to fall back on should his diving career come to an end.
Tom Daley is excited to kick off his TV career with 'Splash!'
The 18-year-old Olympic diving bronze medalist is set to host the ITV1 series - in which he will teach celebrities how to dive as they compete against each other - and while he plans to continue in sports, Tom is delighted to have his new-found TV career to fall back on.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday's Live magazine, he said: "The idea of presenting is incredibly exciting. Realistically speaking, I may have another 10 or 15 years in diving, but you never know what's going to happen. I'd love to be at the next Olympics and maybe the one after, but I'd also love to think I have something else in my future.
"I'm going to be honest, but I'm not going to be like Simon Cowell. The idea is really exciting to me. I think every kid wants to be on TV. Ant and Dec are my ultimate idols, but to think I can do a show where it's actually entertainment but it's about diving - that's amazing."
Tom also revealed he would like to see Louis Walsh and Barack Obama take to the diving board for the show - which is rumoured to include Katie Price's ex-boyfriend Leandro Penna and 'The Only Way is Essex' star Joey Essex as contestants - but his ideal participant would be 'Call My Name' singer Cheryl Cole.
He said: "Cheryl tweeted me after the Olympics asking for a diving lesson, but it's not happened yet. Obviously I can't imagine anything better; I'm just waiting for the call."
'Splash!' starts on ITV1 on Saturday (05.01.13).
