Gary Barlow and Dawn French perform comedy duet for Text Santa

Gary Barlow and Dawn French took part in a charity duet for ITV1 fundraiser show 'Text Santa' alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa.

Gary Barlow has performed a festive duet with Dawn French for 'Text Santa'.

The Take That frontman was joined on stage by 'The Vicar Of Dibley' comedienne and his fellow 'X Factor' judges Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger for a special charity performance of The Pogues' 'Fairytale Of New York'.

The sketch sees the 'Rule The World' hitmaker enlist the help of his female co-judges after Dawn's vocals aren't quite what he expected. With the emergency backing singers in place, the foursome belt out a unique rendition of the festive hit.

Dawn, 55, joked: "Gary has been waiting to duet with me for such a long time and tonight he finally got his wish, and I finally relented."

The sketch was recorded especially at Gary's gig at the O2 Apollo in Manchester earlier this month ready for tomorrow's (21.12.12) 'Text Santa' fundraiser show on ITV1.

Gary, 41, commented: "I am delighted to be involved in Text Santa this year - and what better way to raise awareness for this charity appeal than having a singalong with a few friends?

"ITV's Text Santa is supporting some great charities and I just hope that our performance gets everyone in the festive spirit."

Dawn added: "It's fantastic that we will be helping raise money for the charities involved as everyone deserves some happiness at Christmas."

The programme raised £4 million on its debut last year for charities including Age UK, Carers UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Whizz-Kidz.

'Text Santa' airs on ITV1 from 8pm tomorrow (21.12.12).
