Dan Whiston: Me and Beth Tweddle can make DOI final
Dan Whiston is excited to be partnered with Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle for next year's 'Dancing on Ice' series, and he is confident the pair can reach the final
Dan Whiston is confident he will reach the 'Dancing on Ice' final with Beth Tweddle next year.
The professional skater - who has won the show twice in the past six years with actresses Gaynor Faye and Hayley Tamaddon in 2006 and 2010 respectively - is partnering the Olympian gymnast in the forthcoming ITV series and he has been really impressed with her focus and ability in training so far.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "This year I've got an amazing partner in Beth, she is doing really, really well. I do really think we can go all the way to the final. She's got so much potential and I think she's got a lot to give back to the audience.
"Because she's a gymnast she's really on the ball and focused and she's doing really well. I'm really looking forward to getting on the ice and showing what Beth can do."
While Dan is excited about being partnered with the 27-year-old star, he admits her disciplined gymnastic experience has brought some "downfalls" with it because she is so used to have straight legs and pointed toes.
She added: "It does come with its downfalls. Everything Beth has been taught, things like pointed toes and straight legs, is the opposite to what you do in skating where you've got to have soft knees and good posture.
"She's working so hard and obviously really enjoying it. She's having a great time and we're really having a great laugh. I think that's half the battle because if you have a good time then you can get loads of work done because you're having more fun doing it."
'Dancing on Ice' returns to ITV on January 6.
