Matt Smith thinks Richard E. Grant was "born to be" a 'Doctor Who' villain.

The 'Withnail & I' star makes a guest appearance in festive special 'Doctor Who - The Snowmen' and the show's lead actor - who portrays the titular Time Lord - promised fans are in for a treat.

He said:"We have killer snowmen and killer snow and we've got Richard E. Grant - who was born to be a Who villain! He's a wonderful guy."

The episode marks the official debut of Jenna-Louise Coleman as new companion Clara, and Matt is delighted with his new co-star.

Speaking on ITV1's 'This Morning', he said: "And most importantly we get to meet the new companion Clara, played by Jenna Louise Coleman, who has started thrillingly - she has done brilliant work, very detailed, she's very hard working and she's just a delight."

It was recently revealed that the iconic TARDIS has been given a make-over and Matt confessed he stole some souvenirs from the old time-travelling device.

He admitted: "In my flat, I've got the hat stand ... and I've got the plaque which says it's the 'Type 40 Tardis' and it can only be flown by a Time Lord. You've got to take a little trinket!"
