Christopher Maloney comes third on 'The X Factor'
Christopher Maloney has lost out on a spot in 'The X Factor' final after receiving the fewest amount of votes in tonight's semi-final leaving James Arthur and Jahmene Douglas to battle to win the competition tomorrow night
Christopher Maloney has come third on 'The X Factor'.
The Liverpool born singer became the second runner up after he was voted off the semi-final of the hit reality TV series tonight (08.12.12) leaving James Arthur, 24, and Jahmene Douglas, 22, to battle it out in tomorrow night's series finale.
The 34-year-old call centre worker graciously accepted his defeat after automatically being eliminated for receiving the fewest number of votes, following his renditions of Irene Cara's 'Flashdance' and Take That's 'Rule The World' - a duet with his mentor Gary Barlow - and said it was "fantastic" to have come third in the competition.
On hearing the results, Christopher told host Dermot O'Leary: "Do you know what, I feel like I've already won."
His mentor Gary Barlow said: "Congratulations. Amazing. He's done brilliantly."
The show finalist was filmed returning to Liverpool earlier this week, but it had been claimed producers handed out cardboard placards with messages of support on them to members of the public, to make him look more favourable. They are also said to have drafted in extra people to the Liverpool Mutual Homes call centre - where the cruise ship crooner works - so he would appear more popular for the segment.
Tonight's star studded semi-final included performances from Kelly Clarkson, Rita Ora and Kylie Minogue.
Nicole Scherzinger's two remaining acts James and Jahmene - who also performed tonight alongside their mentor, and admitted it "sucks" that her microphone failed to function during her duet with Jahmene - will go head to head in tomorrow night's finale.
