Legal row over comedy catchphrases

  • 10 September 2007

Little Britain stars Matt Lucas and David Williams, along with Catherine Tate, are taking legal action against a Christian organisation for using their catchphrases to entice young people into church.

Christian Publishing and Outreach (CPO) used the “Yeah but no but yeah”, “Am I bovvered?” and “How very dare you” sayings for promotional posters designed to appeal to youngsters.

However it was claimed the use was a breach of copyright, and the posters were subsequently withdrawn.

The firm was selling the brightly coloured comedy posters for £25 and said the range had been doing well before they were withdrawn.

Posters in the sports range include the likes of: “If life’s got you bunkered, let Jesus drive” and Without God you’re snookered”.
