Eddie Redmayne wants superhero role
Eddie Redmayne would love to star in the next big comic book adaptation because he finds the success of the genre "intriguing"
Eddie Redmayne wants to star in a superhero movie.
The 'Les Miserables' actor - who is rumoured to be playing Star-Lord in James Gunn's silver screen adaptation of Marvel comic 'Guardians of the Galaxy' - admits he is a big fan of the genre and would enjoy the challenge of working on a clever, action-packed blockbuster.
He told MTV: "I love those films when they're done well. I loved watching Andrew [Garfield] and Emma [Stone] in 'Spider-Man.' I loved watching 'The Dark Knight Rises'. There seems to be an audience now needing satisfaction beyond spectacle.
"From an actor's point of view, that makes it intriguing. I love going to see those films. I also like to shake it up - I just did a musical. I don't like sitting in a box."
The in-demand actor remained coy when quizzed about his potential 'Guardians' role, however, and said he felt lucky to even be offered roles or gossiped about ever since his big break in Hollywood last year with his role in 'My Week With Marilyn'.
Eddie said: "As an actor, you never believe you're going to get a job when you start out. You're lucky to get any form of employment. There's noise with the internet of things that are true and not true. If I listen to all of it, I'd go slightly insane."
'Guardians of the Galaxy' is set for release in August 2014.
