Francis Ford Coppola: Another Godfather would be annoying
Francis Ford Coppola thinks any more 'Godfather' movies would not be in the interests of audiences and would be "annoyed" if a fourth film was produced
Francis Ford Coppola would be "annoyed" if there was another 'Godfather' movie.
The legendary director - who directed the 1972 classic and its 1974 sequel - doesn't think it would be in the interests of audience to make another movie in the series, and believes it would turn the franchise into a "brand".
He said: "Would I be annoyed? Yeah, because I feel that all films shouldn't be sequels. Sequels are not done for the audience or cinema or the filmmakers. It's for the distributor. The film becomes a brand."
The 73-year-old filmmaker doesn't even think the second and third movies should have been made, though he is proud of his work on 'The Godfather Part II'.
He added to MTV News: "I think people have realised that 'The Godfather' was never sequel material.
"I've always maintained there should have been one 'Godfather', though I'm proud of the second one, and I thought the third should have been considered a coda and not called 'The Godfather: Part III.' "
