While Tulisa Contostavlos thinks being a solo artist gives you a lot more freedom, she misses the support of her former band mates Fazer and Dappy
Tulisa Contostavlos misses recording with N-Dubz.
The 'Young' singer says working on her debut solo album 'The Female Boss' was much more liberating than being tied to her band mates Fazer and Dappy, but she regretted not having the urban duo supporting her along the way.
She told Digital Spy: "It's exciting but nerve-wracking all at the same time, but I've been really enjoying the freedom to sing what I want, write what I want. But then another part of me misses the team work and going through the motions - whether it be up or down - with two other people.
"It's a lot easier in the studio without them but that's not to say it wasn't as creative or fun. I still miss the boys."
The straight-talking singer - whose new single 'Sight of You' has failed to propel sales of her album into the top ten in the UK charts - revealed she plans to release club anthem 'Visa' featuring Wiley as her next single, but admitted she had never actually ventured into the studio with the rapper.
Tulisa explained: "'Visa' may be coming forward as a single... To be fair no one actually gets in the studio anymore, you just ring them up and they go to another studio, record the verse and send it back over to you."
'The X Factor' judge also said the album is very personal and since she wrote 50 percent of the tracks, she feels a strong sense of pride when she sings them live.
She said: "I wanted to put my own spin on it, its gotta feel like you. There's a big difference to when you stand up and sing someone else's song, but when you've actually written the song you feel like you were a part of it and you're a lot more proud of it."
