Take That without Robbie

Gary Barlow has revealed he and the rest of Take That will enter the studio next year to work on another album, with a view to tour in 2014

Take That are "far from over".

The 'Greatest Day' hitmakers - made up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Robbie Williams, Jason Orange and Howard Donald - are currently on a break after a hugely successful album and tour last year, but frontman Gary says they will be starting work on some new music next year with the hope of touring in 2014.

He said: "I have got a lot of Take That stuff next year and then, hopefully, a tour the year after. A new studio album feels right for us, it has always been in our minds.

"The band cycles are obvious, everyone wanted a year off this year and now everybody can't wait to get back into the studio in February and that is what we are going to do. So, hopefully, an album for Christmas and a tour the following year.

"Mark's solo album is out next year. I was talking to him about it earlier today and he's very excited about it. Then at the end of 2013, there'll be a Take That album. We're far from over."

The group first split in 1996, following Robbie's departure the year before, and got back together in 2005 with Robbie rejoining them last year, and Gary is pleased it's come full circle.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Robbie left and then the band split up, did anyone phone the help lines? You should be ashamed of yourselves.

"Then after 10 years they come back, 2006, Beautiful World album. The Circus and then, after 20 years, all five members get back. I'm glad you've all been there to see it."

Take That

The prototype boy band have re-lit their own fire and returned to cash in those nostalgia dollars, and have proved far more credible than any of us could have imagined. Now reduced to a three-piece as Jason Orange bows out but Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald soldier on.
