'Coronation Street's Bill Tarmey was laid to rest this afternoon (27.11.12).
Many of the ITV soap's cast and crew turned out to see their colleague - who played Jack Duckworth for over 30 years until November 2010 - buried in his hometown of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
Bill had passed away at his holiday home in Tenerife on November 9, aged 71.
Around 700 people gathered at the church for the burial, including his wife of 50 years, Ali, and the couple's two children, Carl and Sara.
From the soap, mourners included Liz Dawn, who played Jack's on-screen wife Vera Duckworth and who was a close personal friend, Nigel Pivaro, who played Bill's on-screen son Terry Duckworth, and Alan Halsall, whose character, Tyrone Dobbs, was largely guided by Jack Duckworth as a father figure in the show.
Bill's granddaughter, Naomi, described him as a "hero of a man" who was "loved by all" during the service.
Co-star Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria Connor, gave a eulogy saying how "he made me laugh so much that I'd cry".
Alan paid tribute on Twitter, saying: "Today is going to be tough, but also a day to remember & thank a huge influence in my life! R.I.P Bill I love you xx (sic)."
Others from 'Coronation Street' to attend included William Roache (Ken Barlow), Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch), Roy Barraclough (Alec Gilroy), Sally Dynevor (Sally Webster), Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts), Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster), Helen Worth (Gail Platt), Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan), Kate Ford (Tracy Barlow), Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape) and Kevin Kennedy (Norman 'Curly' Watts).
