Fabrice Muamba set for Strictly Xmas special
Miracle footballer Fabrice Muamba is set to star in a festive one-off episode of 'Strictly Come Dancing', just months after his cardiac arrest
Fabrice Muamba will appear in a 'Strictly Come Dancing' Christmas special.
The footballer - who collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest earlier this year - has made a speedy recovery and will be partnered up with professional dancer Aliona Vilani for a festive episode of the BBC One ballroom dancing competition.
The 24-year-old star told the Daily Mail newspaper: "This is definitely the hardest thing I have done since my recovery. I'm feeling good now. I've already been training with Aliona for a week and there are no complaints.
"But I have a new respect for dancers. I have always been a massive fan of 'Strictly' so it is a pleasure to take part."
The Bolton Wanderers footballer was forced to retire from sport after he technically 'died' for 78 minutes when his heart stopped, but doesn't want to let his heath scare stand in the way of his goals.
Fabrice has expressed his love of 'Strictly' in the past and admitted he wanted to put on his dancing shoes and showcase his footwork skills on TV.
He said: "I was approached to do 'Dancing On Ice', but that's more dangerous than football. My insurance doesn't cover that. But I'd do 'Strictly Come Dancing'. I love my salsa, so I'd be well up for that."
JLS singer J.B. Gill will also star in the Christmas special and firm favourites from previous series such as Kelly Brook and Rachel Stevens are rumoured to be making a grand return.
