Christopher Maloney has received online death threats following Ella Henderson's shock 'X Factor' exit last night (18.11.12).
The wannabe has been targeted by several so-called fans of the ITV1 talent show who were left seething after Ella - who has been hot favourite to win the series for the majority of this year's competition - was surprisingly voted off the show after the results went to deadlock.
Christopher - who has been branded "cheesy" throughout the competition - has been subjected to a barrage of criticism on twitter, and one user of the social networking site wrote: "Oh my god I feel to cry. I'm gobsmacked. Christopher maloney I will kill you in ur sleep (sic)"
Another posted: "CHRISTOPHER MALONEY KILL YOURSELF. (sic)"
Speaking on last night's 'Xtra Factor', he said: "My fans have been with me throughout. Ella was brought in, the judges picked her. I was not picked by the judges, I was the wildcard and I was the wildcard for the public choice and the public have stayed with me right from the beginning.
"The public vote. It's independently verified, people are voting for people who they want to win and I'm just so grateful that I've got these loyal supporters, fantastic supporters that are voting for me, I can't thank them enough."
Christopher has since taken to his twitter account to wish Ella well and thank his fans for their loyal support.
A number of stars were shocked to see the 16-year-old hopeful voted off the competition including One Direction's Niall Horan, who branded the show a "complete joke".
Last night, he tweeted: "That's a complete joke! Cannot believe that! They both 100% percent did not deserve to be in that situation ! People u gotta vote for ur fav (sic)"
Despite the furore surrounding Ella's shock departure, 'X Factor' contestant Jaymi Hensley has received a positive reaction from the public after he came out as gay over the weekend.
The Union J singer revealed Louis Walsh, his mentor on the show, encouraged him to come out - and he has been left overwhelmed by the positive comments on the internet.
The 22-year-old wannabe told The Sun newspaper: "It's been amazing, really amazing. I have not seen one negative comment. I want to say a massive thank you for people's support. It has been incredible.
"I have already had messages from young gay guys saying, 'Thank you so much, I can look up to you', and that's what I did it for."
