Florence Welch will spend her year off doing "normal things" to get inspiration for her next album.

The Florence + the Machine singer is planning to take time out after she finishes her current European tour in support of second album, 'Ceremonials', in December.

The 26-year-old star said: "I've been on tour since I was 21. I need a break and to have the chance to do normal things, like go to the supermarket and hang out with my friends.

'I've only just moved out of my mum's house, so I'd like to settle into my new place and start getting inspired again. If I started writing songs now, all they'd be about is tour buses and hotel rooms."

The 'What the Water Gave Me' singer added she would like to spend some of her time out writing a musical, with the help of her friend Sophie Hart-Walsh.

Sophie said: "We always used to write songs about our lives and sing them to each other. We always said we should make them into a musical."

Florence's label, Island records, have said they have no problem with her taking a break to gather her ideas for her third record.

She said: "The record company have put no pressure on for the next album. They've said I can have as long as I want."
