Tom Hardy is rumoured for the lead role in a movie version of video game 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell'.
The actor has been attached to the part of Sam Fisher, a Special Agent in a fictional US Black Operatives team who battle against terrorists in the game's storyline.
The movie is being set up by Ubisoft, who are behind the game, with the hope of attracting a studio once they have key roles cast.
Eric Singer - who wrote 2009 thriller 'The International', starring Clive Owen - is on board as screenwriter.
The first game was released in 2002, featuring a tie-in book. There have been five games since with a sixth, 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist', set for release in spring 2013. More than 23 million units of the game are thought to have been sold to date.
Tom, 35, has recently starred as supervillain Bane in Batman film 'The Dark Knight Rises', and is currently in Namibia shooting 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.
He is also set to team up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire on two new Warner Bros. movies. Both are in the early stages of development, but one is believed to be about animal poaching and the other about trafficking.
