James Arthur wowed the judges with his cover of Adele's 'Hometown Glory' on last night's (10.11.12) 'X Factor'.

The 24-year-old singer performed an acoustic version of Adele's track, adding in a dub-step twist, and all four judges - Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh - were blown away.

Gary told him: "Adele is such an amazing brilliant artist, no one should ever cover her songs... except you.

"Most of the acts here are work in progress, but you're ready to record. Your talent is incredible."

Mentor Nicole added: "You are the future of music. You my love are the best of British."

Also impressing the judges were Ella Henderson and Jahmene Douglas with their performances of Tiny Tempah's 'Written in the Stars' and Robbie Williams' 'Angels' respectively.

Louis told Ella: "You're an old soul trapped in a young person's body. You're the best girl we've had since Leona Lewis. I think you are fantastic."

While Tulisa praised Jahmene, saying: "I love the fact you're a perfectionist. I completely think you could rip up the music industry."

District 3 reduced Nicole to tears with their version of Eric Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven', while Union J impressed with their take on Coldplay's 'Fix You'.

Rylan Clark once again entertained with his Spice Girls mash-up, although Gary was not impressed with his vocals.

Christopher Maloney divided the panel with his version of Sir Elton John's 'I'm Still Standing', with Tulisa saying it was too old-fashioned and Gary claiming he loved it.
