Lily Savage will never return to TV
Paul O'Grady won't bring Lily Savage back to TV because he thinks his wrinkles would look like "gutters" in High Definition (HD).
Paul O'Grady won't bring Lily Savage back to TV because of High Definition (HD) technology.
The comedian is best known to many as his cross dressed alter-ego, but while he will star as the gravel voiced Liverpudlian in pantomime as Widow Twankey in Aladdin, he doesn't want her to appear on TV because it would show up how old she looks.
He said: "I'm 57, I feel I'm 207. I look in the mirror and I think, 'That's not a wrinkle, it's a gutter!' Lily Savage will never do telly again. Not with HD."
Paul has had two heart attacks, but says he doesn't worry about his health and has no plans to slow down.
He said: "The worst thing you can do is to sit and fret. I take tablets and have check-ups every eight months when they put me on the treadmill.
"I say to them, 'Heart attack or not, I'm hopeless on treadmills.'"
He has also moved to the country, and has been brushing up on his baking skills and learning about herbology, but he denies he is calmer and more sedate because of it, saying: "God, I don't know what would make me mellow."
