Victoria Pendleton struggles with acting on Strictly
Victoria Pendleton has difficulty pretending she is in love with 'Strictly Come Dancing' partner Brendan Cole.
Victoria Pendleton struggles to pretend she is in love with Brendan Cole on 'Strictly'.
The Olympic gold medallist - who has become well known for crying throughout the BBC series - admits she finds it tough to be an "actress" during her performances and much prefers it when the pair can dance separately.
She said: "As lovely as Brendan is, he's not my fiancé, so dancing the tango, which involves staying away from each other as opposed to pretending to be in love with each other, was really enjoyable for me.
"I'm not an actress, so pretending to be in love with someone for a week is actually quite hard."
It is not just the routines and the love-pretence Victoria struggles with - she also finds it difficult even to watch her performances back, and requires Brendan to do it on her behalf.
She told the Radio Times magazine: "I can't watch myself back on TV. Brendan made me watch our rumba to show that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was - but I found it so painful.
"Brendan watches our performances and gives me feedback. Although he tells me he finds it hard watching me too!"
