Stereophonics announce 2012 UK tour dates

The band will visit Newport, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London

Stereophonics announce December tour dates across the UK

The Stereophonics will make a long awaited return to the live circuit with a mini touring schedule this winter. The rock stalwarts have announced five dates which will be held in more intimate venues than in previous outings, favouring a clutch of Academy venues over large-scale arenas.

Having recently gone through a transitional period and line-up change, this could prove to be a cathartic series of gigs for the Welsh outfit. The live shows will no doubt provide an up close and personal opportunity to hear some classic hits from the band's 20 year career, as well as exclusive new tracks from the forthcoming new album. The as-yet untitled eighth studio album will feature new song 'Violins and Tambourines', the video for which (directed by Jones himself) you can watch to below.

Support for these gigs will be provided by ex-Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes. Tickets go on sale Fri 2 Nov at 9am. The dates announced are as follows:

Sat 15 Dec - Newport, Centre
Sun 16 Dec - Manchester, Academy
Mon 17 Dec - Glasgow, O2 Academy
Wed 19 Dec - Birmingham, O2 Academy
Thu 20 Dec - London, Troxy
