Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs is to shock his friends by proposing to his violent girlfriend Kirsty Soames, but it is all part of his plan to snatch their baby daughter Ruby.

Coronation Street's Tyrone Dobbs is to propose to his violent girlfriend Kirsty Soames.

The hapless mechanic will stun his friends when he pops the question to aggressive Kirsty, as they know she has been abusing him.

However, it is all part of Tyrone's plan to snatch baby Ruby, after Kirsty left his name off her birth certificate to stop him having any legal rights over the tot.

Tyrone (Alan Halsall) decides that if he becomes Kirsty's husband he'll have more say over the baby and be able to escape with her as soon as he can.

In scenes to be screened next month, the couple are seen drinking champagne while planning their wedding in the Rovers Return.

Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) tells Sean Tully: "We're setting a date for our wedding", to which Tyrone chips in with, "Tomorrow if it's possible."

Meanwhile, Leanne Battersby gets engaged to her ex-husband Nick Tilsley, meaning there will be two weddings on the ITV1 soap this Christmas.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "We've got two weddings but will there be a funeral?

"Maybe it's just Tyrone and Kirsty's relationship that's dead."
