'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' bosses have spent £40,000 on cockroaches for this year's show.
The tough jungle challenge returns to ITV1 next month and show chiefs are planning some of the toughest challenges ever faced, and have also splashed out £20,000 on rats to join the celebrities in the scary Bushtucker Trials.
One planned trial will be the Midnight Express, a specially-designed steam train. The contestant will be locked in the dark carriage with thousands of creepy crawlies, while another challenge features a giant hamster cage complete with wheel.
According to the Daily Star newspaper, one of the toughest challenges will be an underwater party, where celebrities will have to collect stars from the bottom of a tank - and the only way they can breathe is through air pockets filled with bugs and slime.
Celebrities linked to the new series of 'I'm A Celebrity...' - which is hosted by Ant and Dec - include former 'Coronation Street' star Helen Flanagan, eccentric singer Grace Jones, comedian Brian Conley, ex-'EastEnders' actor Ricky Groves, darts legend Eric Bristow, 'Birds of a Feather' actress Linda Robson and Duchess Catherine's cousin Katrina Darling.
