Leona Lewis inspired by Faithless
Leona Lewis says songs on her new album are inspired by Faithless
Leona Lewis' new album is inspired by Faithless.
The 27-year-old singer admires the dance group's "dirty and heavy" music and says that she was looking for a similar vibe on her new record 'Glassheart'.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "I love Faithless and what they've done - drum and bass stuff that's really heavy and dirty. My track 'Come Alive' is definitely dubstep influenced.
"Because it's so syncopated it's very powerful and has an effect on you."
Leona believes her new album marks a change in sound, though she thinks her tracks have always had "dark undertones".
She told BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat: "I feel this album is definitely quite progressive and it's moved on a lot which naturally it would do, the first album was six years ago.
"There's a different energy on the album this time and it's coming more from a stronger place.
"I think my songs have always had dark undertones but with this album I feel, sound-wise I've been very influenced by 80s, 90s."
However, the 'Bleeding Love' hitmaker promised fans won't be too shocked by the album.
She added: "One song has a bit of dubstep and jungle beats but the majority of the album are those classic, heartfelt moving songs."
