Bill Bailey is to guest star in series two of Comedy Central's 'Threesome', welcoming the "fun" opportunity to play a new type of character

Bill Bailey is to guest star in the new series of 'Threesome'.

The 'Black Books' actor and comedian is set to star in the Comedy Central programme as shopping centre security guard Mr Scrutton, who takes an instant disliking character Alice - played by Amy Huberman - and sets about launching a campaign of harassment against the mum-of-one.

Although Bill's character is described in an official press release as "officious, punctilious, humourless and narrow-minded" Bill welcomed the change of character and found it "fun" to play him.

He said: "I've always wanted to chase someone through a shopping centre, and then interrogate them under a lightbulb. What fun that was!

"Normally I'm cast as a baffled farmer who dispenses rural wisdom, so a control- freak security guard was a welcome chance to play against type."

Series one of 'Threesome' saw trio Alice, Mitch (Stephen Wright) and Richie (Emun Elliot) come to terms with impending parenthood and welcoming Alice and Mitch's daughter Lily Owen Valentine Ennis into the world.

But chaos ignites in series two as the parents struggle to find balance between the newborn, their careers and all problems life throws at them.

Bill guest stars in Episode 4 of 'Threesome', airing on Comedy Central UK (Sky 112 Virgin 132) Mondays at 9.30pm.
